No. Per DHS's own IRIS eligibility description, IRIS participants must live in a home, apartment, adult family home, or residential care apartment complex (RCAC) -- not a CBRF or a nursing home.
The detail behind the program
This is a hard structural boundary, not a preference, and it can force a real decision point for a family whose loved one's needs are changing. If someone currently self-directing their care through IRIS in their own apartment reaches a point where a CBRF's higher level of supervision becomes necessary, they would need to transition off IRIS and likely onto Family Care to remain eligible for Medicaid-funded long-term-care support in that new CBRF setting. Talk to your IRIS consultant agency well before a crisis point if you sense this kind of transition may be coming, so the switch to Family Care (if needed) doesn't add delay on top of an already stressful move.
